Timberline Tree Service Madera clears overgrown lots, cuts back brush and checks trees that look unwell, for homes, businesses and rural parcels across Madera. These jobs sit alongside our main tree service in Madera, and the estimate is free.

We offer a full spectrum of tree care solutions designed to address everything from routine maintenance to unexpected emergencies. The four we're called for most each have their own page:

Land Clearing in Madera

Land clearing takes a lot back to open ground before you build, fence, plant or sell. Trees are felled, stumps are ground out so the ground can be graded, and the brush and wood are hauled away. On a rural parcel, such as those in the Madera Ranchos, that can mean old shade trees, growth along the fence lines and years of dead brush.

If there are trees you want to keep, mark them before we start and we'll work around them. We'll walk the lot with you at the estimate and agree what comes out and what stays.

Brush Clearing in Madera

Brush clearing cuts back overgrown shrubs, dead growth and small volunteer trees, then clears it all away. It's worth doing before summer, when brush dries out in the heat: Madera's average high is 90°F or more from early June to late September, over 100 days a year.

The city has its own rules on overgrowth. Under Chapter 3-15 of the City of Madera's municipal code, weeds, brush and rank growth on private property are a public nuisance. If the city issues a notice and the owner doesn't clear it in time, the city can have it cleared at the owner's expense. The same chapter bans burning the cut material without the city's written permission and burying debris on the lot, so everything we cut is hauled away.

Tree Health Assessments

If a tree looks unwell, a close look can tell you whether it needs care, a trim or removal. We check the leaves, bark, trunk and base, and what's around the tree, from paving over its roots to sprinklers hitting the trunk.

Signs worth a call are leaves that come out small or yellow and drop early, dieback in the crown, cracks or cavities in the trunk, and fungus at the base. Clusters of honey-colored mushrooms at the base, or white, fan-shaped fungus just under the bark, point to oak root fungus (Armillaria). UC garden advisers recommend not letting the soil around a tree stay waterlogged, especially in summer, so keep sprinklers off the base of the trunk through a Madera summer.

We'll tell you plainly whether a tree can be saved. If it can't, we'll explain what removal involves and give you the price for it.

Land Clearing and Tree Health FAQs

Straight answers to what Madera property owners ask about clearing lots and checking trees. Tap a question to see the answer.

  • How much does land clearing cost in Madera?

It depends on the size of the lot, how many trees and stumps there are and how big they are, how easy the lot is to get into, and how much brush has to be hauled away. We walk the lot with you and give you a free estimate before any work starts.

  • Do I need permission to clear my lot?

Trees in the public right-of-way, usually the strip between the sidewalk and the street, come under the City of Madera's street-tree rules. Burning cut material needs the city's written permission, which is why we haul everything away. We'll check what applies to your lot when we give the estimate.

  • Can you clear a lot but keep some of the trees?

Yes. Mark the trees you want to keep, or point them out at the estimate, and we'll clear around them.

  • What happens to the brush and wood you cut?

It's loaded up and taken away, and the ground is raked before we leave. The city's rules don't allow cut material to be buried on the lot.

  • Can a sick tree be saved?

Sometimes. It depends on what's wrong and how far it has gone. A free assessment will tell you whether care or trimming could help, or whether the tree has become a risk and should come down.

  • Do you work outside the city of Madera?

Yes. We cover the county communities around the city, such as Madera Acres, Parkwood and the Madera Ranchos, as well as Chowchilla and Kerman.
